GET provided the preliminary soils explorations and geotechnical engineering studies for the Megasite certification of an approximately 5600-acre parcel of land in Baldwin County located slightly north of Bay Minette, Alabama. The site is certified by McCallum Sweeney, CSX and EDPA and fully owned by the Baldwin County Alabama Commission.
The initial phase of the project for GET included performing 26 soil borings for a preliminary assessment of the site for the construction of a potential medium to heavy industrial facility. General soils and groundwater conditions were provided along with preliminary site preparation, foundation and pavement recommendations.
In an effort to aid the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance (BCEDA) in marketing the property for future development, GET provided an additional 23 soil borings within specific areas of the site. GET engineers have worked closely with Baldwin County, BCEDA personnel, the county engineers and other consulting engineers to market the property to site selection consultants and potential businesses.
