GET was responsible for the soils explorations and geotechnical engineering evaluations for the Simulation Lab Building located adjacent to the Health Sciences Building on the campus of the University of South Alabama. The building is a 3-story combination of cast in place concrete and steel frame structure with an approximate footprint of 12,000 square feet per floor. The structure was constructed on a sloping grade varying 6 feet in elevation and required retaining walls for portions of the structure where fills soils were required. Shallow foundation recommendations were specified for the building structure once all site preparations specified by GET had been addressed.
GET provided construction engineering oversight and construction materials testing during the construction phase of the project and worked with the project structural engineer to provide Special Inspections for the project.
