John L Borom Center for Science and Allied Health Building

GET was responsible for the geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the 3-story 45,000 square foot brick and stone veneer building constructed on the Coastal Alabama Community College Fairhope Campus. The facility has offices and 22 classrooms for Allied Health, Biology, Chemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, Physical Science and Microbiology. It also houses two labs for animation, Interactive Technology and Video Graphics/Visual Effects.

Based on the soils investigation and engineering analyses, spread foundations were recommended for the structure. The project had special site preparation requirements prior to foundation installation and was monitored closely by the GET technician personnel assigned to the project. GET performed an on-site percolation test for the design/construction of the retention pond.
