GET has been providing soils explorations and geotechnical engineering studies for the Kimberly Clark Facility located in Mobile, AL for over 40 years. Several of the projects and facility improvements have included an 850 foot long Ship Pier; a 50-acre wood handling and storage yard; two 250 foot high boiler structures, turbine generators, precipitators, tanks, a 300 foot high stack power generating plant; a 70,000 SF tissue manufacturing building; and two 255,000 square foott warehouse structures. The soils explorations over the course of these projects and previous projects have included drilling over 400 soil borings, making 20 Static Cone Penetration Tests and performing various soils mechanics tests on soil samples. GET has performed numerous pile load tests across the entire facility site.
GET has also provided services to the facility during the construction phase of projects including monitoring of dredging operations, underwater construction of sand/rip-rap mounds, pile load tests/installation/monitoring on multiple pile types, preload installation/monitoring, compaction testing, concrete testing and all other basic testing requirements associated with the projects over the years in supporting the facility’s operations.
