GET was responsible for the geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing for the $20 million K-6 school for the Baldwin County Board of Education. The school is an approximate 123,000 square foot structure which includes a gymnasium, cafeteria, and kitchen. The classroom building is a single-story concrete masonry structure with brick veneer. The gymnasium, cafeteria and kitchen are pre-engineered steel frame structures. Based on the geotechnical investigation and analysis, all structures were supported on spread foundations once the recommended site preparations were complete. The project also included the design and construction of all associated drives and parking areas.
Construction materials testing services included laboratory and field testing of soils, concrete and grout field testing and laboratory compression strength testing, pavement installation monitoring and testing and all associated documentation and distribution of field and test reports. Project services also included Special Inspections and Non-Destructive Testing and reporting.
