GET performed the soils explorations and geotechnical engineering studies for the Old Majestic Brewery project located in the St. Louis Street revitalization district in downtown Mobile. The project included an approximate 11,500 square foot single-story high vaulted ceiling structure for use as both a restaurant and for a brewery. Numerous tank foundations were required internally in the structure for the brewing process. Due to limited access to the site, the GET drill crew utilized hand carried tripod-mounted drilling equipment to perform the soil borings. GET provided multiple foundation recommendations including helical piers for the support of the internal brewing tanks. The option to perform more extensive site preparations was chosen by the design team to allow for the use of spread foundations. Due to the proximity of the project to existing surrounding structures, GET also provided vibration limitations for construction and recommended areas requiring shoring to prevent undermining of the surrounding structures. Construction engineering oversight and construction materials testing/Special Inspections services were provided through completion of project.
