GET has provided geotechnical explorations and construction materials testing for multiple projects over the past 20 years at the Trent Lott Airport. Projects have ranged in size from single aircraft hangars to larger facility structures ranging up to 21,000 square feet as well as runway improvement projects, airport facility access roads and paved parking structures. Geotechnical investigations found the site to be underlain by highly compressible soils. GET provided multiple foundation options for projects including a site preload with wick drain program to reduce the potential for settlement, spread foundation recommendations for lighter structures and then multiple pile type/capacity recommendations for structures requiring deep foundations. GET also provided specific site preparation requirements pertinent to each project development.
GET personnel provided the required engineering support and quality assurance testing during the construction phases for each individual project. These services included monitoring the installation of wick drains and preload and the associated settlement plates. GET personnel also monitored shallow foundation construction for some structures and deep foundations for other structures. GET personnel provided quality assurance and asphalt testing for runway resurfacing projects.
